Caleb & Brett Bailey Will Be First Twins to Swim at Queens University Starting Fall 2024

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Southern Tide Swim Club’s Caleb Bailey will swim for Queens University of Charlotte starting this fall. The South Carolina native will be making the move up north alongside his twin brother, Brett Bailey, who has also committed to swim for the Royals.

The pair have already made school history before even stepping on the pool deck; they are the first set of twins to ever swim for Queens.

“I chose Queens because it doesn’t just offer me an exceptional academic and athletic opportunity, but I feel like the environment there will help me grow as a man,” Caleb Bailey said.

Bailey is a fairly versatile swimmer, as he has proven himself to be adept at the IM events as well as both distances of breaststroke and butterfly.

During his time as a Dorman High School Cavalier, Bailey competed at the SCHSL 5A State Championships all four years, with his best performances coming in his senior year; he turned in a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (1:53.19) and a 3rd-place finish in the 100 breast (57.49). Both swims were personal best times for Bailey.

More recently, Bailey competed at the Best of the South championship meet in Atlanta, where he placed 5th in the 400 IM (4:06.35), 11th in the 200 breast (2:07.76), 16th in the 100 breast (58.73) and 18th in the 200 fly (1:56.21). Bailey’s swims in the 400 IM and the 200 fly both marked season best performances for him.

Best Times (SCY)

  • 200 IM – 1:53.19
  • 400 IM – 4:05.20
  • 100 Breast – 57.49
  • 200 Breast – 2:06.09
  • 100 Fly – 51.04

A Division I Mid-Major program, Queens University competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference; the Royals’ men’s swimming and diving team took 2nd out of 10 teams at the ASUN Championships back in February, so Bailey will be joining a strong program. Even more notable in regards to the program’s prowess, the Royals sent a swimmer onto the Olympics in Paris, as graduate student Matej Dusa represented his home country of Slovakia in the Games.

To make the final at the ASUN Championship, it took times of 49.95 in the 100 fly, 1:50.34/4:05.42 in the 200/400 IM and 56.31/2:03.99 in the 100/200 breast. Based on his current best times, Bailey would be right on the edge of finaling in many of his top events, with his strongest chance being in the 400 IM.

Aside from his brother Brett, Bailey will also be joined by fellow incoming freshman Lance Young in Queens’ class of 2028.
