Nor Cal Sprinter Izzy Barattolo Makes Verbal Commitment to UCLA Bruins

Isabella (Izzy) Barattolo of Alamo, California has given her verbal pledge to the University of California, Los Angeles for the 2017-18 season.

I chose UCLA because it has been my dream school since I started swimming.  I know that academically and athletically it will push me to be the very best that I can be and I love that. When I spent the weekend with the coaches and the team, it just felt right.  I loved the girls on the team… hardworking, supportive and cohesive.  I am very excited to be part of an amazing swim program under the leadership of Coach Cyndi and Coach Naya. They have established a great team culture!

I want to thank my family, coaches, friends and everyone else who have supported me along this journey, I am extremely grateful.

I am blessed and excited to be a part of the Bruin family.

Barattolo is a senior at Monte Vista High School in Danville, where she is the record-holder in the 50/100 freestyles and was MVP for the 2015 season. She is a four-time All-American and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She has been an A-finalist in the 50/100 free events at the CIF-NCS Championships in each of the last two years, and at the inaugural CIF State Championships in 2015. She also competed in the sprint freestyles at the 2016 CIF State meet.

Barattolo also swims for Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks. Her best times are:

  • 50y free – 23.52 (22.76 relay split)
  • 50m free – 26.74
  • 100y free – 50.69
  • 200y free – 1:50.84
  • 200y IM – 2:06.02
