Brenna Dickson of Scottsdale Aquatic Club in Arizona has verbally committed to Brigham Young University.
Dickson specializes in the 200 fly, and should help mitigate the impending graduation of BYU’s star flyer Kim Doroghian, who was the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation runner-up in the event last year. Doroghian is in her senior season with the Cougars.
Dickson’s top time of 2:03.81 in the 200 fly would have placed her 7th at the 2013 MPSF championships. BYU hopes she’ll step in for Doroghian, taking a spot on the podium in that event next season.
Dickson’s Top Times
200 fly: 2:03.81
100 fly: 56.98
50 free: 24.13
100 free: 52.46
Dickson also represents Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale Arizona. She’ll swim both butterfly events and is also a strong sprint freestyler, with lifetime bests close to MPSF championship scoring times in the 50 and 100. The Cougars will likely try to develop her as a relay piece down the road in addition to leaning on her as a major contributor in the butterfly races.
You will not find a more exceptional young lady. Congrats Brenna!
Way to go, Brenna!
