Butterflyer Emma Spilman Verbally Commits to University of Florida

Clearwater Central Catholic High School senior Emma Spilman has given a verbal commitment to swim for the University of Florida beginning with the 2015-16 season.

“I really love the national strength of the Florida swim program and the University! It’s such a proud place! I feel that it presents me with my best opportunity to improve both in and out of the pool. Go Gators!”

Last season, Spilman was twelfth in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 fly at the 2013 Florida Class 1A state meet. As a sophomore she was 13th and fourth in those same events. Her strongest events, however, are not featured in high school swimming: 200 fly and 200 back.

Spilman trains with Saint Petersburg Aquatics, where she has made the Winter Nationals time standard in the 200y fly. Over the last two seasons her best times are:

200y fly: 2:00.67 200m fly: 2:16.10
200y back: 2:02.69 200m back: 2:26.34
200y IM: 2:06.64 200m IM: 2:26.31
100y fly: 56.09 100m fly: 1:03.57
100y back: 58.28 100m back: 1:08.65

Spilman is part of a Florida class of 2019 that also include commits Hannah Burns, Mollie Pulte, Sydney Sell, and Tyla Martin.
