Bryant’s Jillian Rice Earns NEC Swimmer Of The Week Accolades

Rice won four individual events as the Bulldogs faced Holy Cross and Boston University over the weekend. The sophomore earned victories in the 50 freestyle (25.18), 100 freestyle (53.34) and 200 freestyle (1:56.49) versus Holy Cross. Against BU, Rice won the 100 freestyle in 53.68 and touched second in the 50 freestyle in 24.79, just .08 behind the winner.
Annemarie Durham, Central Connecticut
East Lyme, CT / East Lyme
Durham earned her fourth NEC Diver of the Week award and second in a row following a convincing win in the 1-meter dive against Sacred Heart on Saturday. The junior finished first with a score of 268.57, winning the competition by over 60 points.
Alexis Fredricks, Central Connecticut
Grand Island, NY / Mount St. Mary’s Academy
In winning her second NEC Rookie of the Week honor, Fredricks helped Central Connecticut pick up a win at Sacred Heart on Saturday. The freshman won the 200 backstroke in 2:05.72. Her time was five seconds faster than the runner-up and the fifth-best time in the NEC this year. Fredricks also placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.61) and swam the opening leg of CCSU’s victorious 200 medley relay team.
