Team Scores

Women

  • Brown – 153
  • Columbia – 147

Men

  • Columbia – 190
  • Brown – 110

The Columbia men’s team beat Brown handily, while the Brown women’s team prevailed in a meet that went down to the wire at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center on Brown’s campus. Columbia won 13 of 16 events in the men’s meet, while Brown and Columbia each won 8 in the women’s meet.

In the women’s meet, Brown was down 140 to 143 going into the last event, the 400 free relay. Brown then put up a dominant performance in the relay, with its ‘A’ relay beating Columbia’s by 4.49 seconds. The Brown team of Maddie Salesky (50.74), Tatiana Prendella (51.74), Marley Cross (50.22), and Taylor Seaman (49.90) combined to go 3:22.33, which is less than 4 seconds off their Ivy-League-leading season best of 3:18.56, and is just slightly slower than they went last weekend (3:21.98). Brown’s ‘B’ relay came in 3rd, giving them a 13-4 point advantage over Columbia in the event, which was enough to secure the win.

Marley Cross, a Brown sophomore, and Taylor Seaman, a Brown Freshman, battled it out in the 100 and 200 free, with Cross tking the 200 and Seaman taking the 100. In the 200, Cross used a stronger middle 100 to fight off Seaman, who was charging on the last 50. Their splits were as follows: Cross – 26.00, 28.29, 28.09, 27.86 | Seaman – 26.45, 28.85, 28.49, 27.31.

Taylor Seaman got her revenge in the 100, however, edging out Cross 50.64 to 50.70. That time for Cross was her 2nd fastest dual meet 100, and 4th fastest overall, very close to her dual meet season best (50.67) and her overall season best (50.01). Seaman’s time was half a second off her dual meet season best of 50.13, and over a second off her overall season best of 49.44. Seaman also took 1st in the 50 free, edging out teammate Maddie Salesky 23.46 to 23.50. Noteably, Taylor Seaman is just 17 years old, and is currently ranked 2nd in the Ivy League in the 50 free, 3rd in the 100 free, and 4th in the 200 free.

Jonathan Suckow remained dominant on the boards for Columbia, keeping his undefeated streak in the 1 meter in collegiate competition (9-0), and moving to (8-1) in the 3 meter in college. His winning scores of 340.05 (1 meter) and 398.85 (3 meter) were actually a little off his season bests of 398.20 and 430.35 respectively, however, he won by a combined 92 points.
