Viktor Bromer, who trains at Aalborg Swimming Club, had the swim of the night in the 200 butterfly, winning easily in 1:53.17. Bromer was well back of his own national record of 1:51.81. He try to improve on that record in the coming European Short Course Championships in Netanya, Israel.
Bromer’s teammate Mie Nielsen won another title as well, cruising to an easy victory in the 100 freestyle (53.23). Unlike Bromer, however, she will not go to Israel. Nielsen is one of the few Danish swimmers already selected for the Rio Olympics and is choosing to forego the competition and continue her training instead.
Another notable swim on the day came from 15 year old Trine Kjøngerksov of Herning. Kjøngerskov broke the oldest Danish junior record on the books in the 200 butterfly, swimming 2:13.20 in the preliminary heats.
Tobias Bjerg, fresh of a summer silver medal at the European Games, set a Danish senior record to win the 50 breaststroke in 27.44. The 17 year old from Aarhus has an outside chance to make the Danish team for Rio and will otherwise be a medal threat in the 50 and 100 next summer at the European Junior Championship.
