Shrewsbury, MA. – (July 16, 2024) – British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise, is thrilled to announce its newest location in the state of Massachusetts. British Swim School of Blackstone Valley opened for business July 1st, with lessons being held at the DoubleTree Hilton-Milford at 11 Beaver St. Milford, MA 01757. Lessons will be held Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

New owners Logi Vaidyanathan and his wife Jobita Alukka are making their first foray into the franchise industry. Logi brings over 25 years of experience in product management to their new venture. While searching for new career opportunities, Logi and Jobita recognized that they wanted to be involved in the sports and fitness realm and create a deeper connection with their community. British Swim School happened to be a perfect fit.

“This checked all the boxes for us,” Logi said. “There’s a community element that’s big. It’s solving a big problem, which is a lack of proper swim safety education, while also allowing me to involve my whole family in this enterprise. It’s very fulfilling for me to teach my kids what’s involved with getting a business off the ground and running.”

It’ll be a true family affair in Blackstone Valley as Logi’s daughter Anusha will serve as the aquatics manager and help with marketing, while son Arun will be the operations manager. Both currently work as EMTs at a nearby fire station as well.

“We impressed upon them that, any opportunity you get to serve and help your community you should definitely go for,” Logi said.

For over 40 years, British Swim School has been dedicated to teaching water survival skills by teaching infants, children, and adults of all ages the skills needed for water acclimation, water survival, and stroke development. Its mission is to ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer.

Across the nation, eleven people die every day from unintentional drownings, with nearly 4,000 deaths occurring each year. Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning. However, the risk of drowning isn’t limited to children: a Red Cross survey found that more than half of all Americans (54%) either can’t swim or don’t have the basic swimming skills needed to save themselves in the event of a water emergency.

“Logi and his family not only bring valuable business experience but their dedication and passion for helping people and lending a hand to their community is something that can’t be taught,” said Ashley Gundlach, President of British Swim School. “We’re elated to help them in bringing important life-saving skills to Blackstone Valley.”
