Brian Bolster, the longtime coach of Osprey Aquatics, was added to the U.S. Center for SafeSport database on February 16.
Bolster is currently facing temporary restrictions under allegations of misconduct. USA Swimming confirmed that he is currently registered as a full-time coach.
Bolster is the founder, head coach and CEO of Osprey Aquatics, based in San Jose, California, and has been leading the team dating back to 1996. He is known for having developed the Bolster Swim Paddle
There is currently no additional information regarding his addition to the SafeSport database.
Another name recently added to the database in January was Alex Georgiev from Wisconsin, who is also listed as facing temporary restrictions under allegations of misconduct. He is a registered athlete member of USA Swimming.
UPDATE
All restrictions on Bolster were lifted after the U.S. Center for SafeSport administratively closed its investigation of the allegations on March 30.
Safe Sport will do this even with a third party allegation. We all should wait for their investigation before making judgement.
They are not.
Just USA Swimming trying to do due diligence and listing him on this list until they have done so.
Some other coach trying to steal his pool time.
Parents dont treat us well. If we don’t treat each other well, who will?
Sorry to hear that
SafeSport does not add coaches to that list unless there are serious reports of abuse and/or misconduct. I hope the victim(s) do not read your comments and feel like they were not heard. It must have taken a lot for them to come forward.
If USA Swimming truly does their due diligence, they will find at least one alleged victim of statutory rape wanting to tell his story. Careful who you step up to defend. They may just be a pedophile.
I have no knowledge of this specific situation, but I try to reply when I read comments like this. For any alleged sexual abuse, contact the police immediately. Do not just contact Safe Sport. If you are indeed a coach, you are a mandatory reporter, and you must report allegations to the police.
Yikes, I hope the allegations aren’t true he’s been with that team for a long time. Linnea Mack’s club coach.
You know who else coached for a long time before being caught in San Jose… Andy King (who is in prison.)
I am responding here because the name on this is very much associated with a past Osprey Aquatics board member, myself. I want to make it clear that this was not posted by me. I am fairly sure who posted it and they are not an Osprey mom. When a third party makes an allegation it needs to be corroborated.
I was indeed an Osprey mom for years before pulling my 2 daughters out of the program before they could be coached by Brian. After hearing too many strange stories over the years while we were there, I got the heck out of dodge. The little girl with the broken pelvis was the nail in the coffin for us. We were happy to have alternatives in the city.
