Brendan Hansen To Compete In Austin Masters Meet This Weekend

Six-time Olympic medalist and former world record holder Brendan Hansen is jumping back into the pool this weekend to compete at an Austin Swim Club-sponsored Masters meet.

Hansen retired from the sport back in 2012 after his third Olympics, where he won an Olympic bronze in the 100 breast and a gold in the 400 medley. A 25-time international medalist, Hansen also won a silver (200 breast), bronze (100 breast), and gold (400 medley) in Athens in 2004 and a gold in (400 medley) in Beijing in 2008. In 2006, he set world records in both long course breaststroke events, swimming 59.13 in the 100 and 2:08.50 in the 200.

Hansen is currently the head coach of the Austin Swim Club and the Austin Aquatics and Sports Academy general manager.

Entries are still open for the event, a one-day 18 & Over Austin Swim Club Masters Last Chance Meet at the Austin Aquatics and Sports Academy. Events include 50 through 200 of the strokes; both the 200 and 400 IM; and the 100, 200, 500 and 1650 free.
