Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Brea, California, native Liza Parahnevich is heading just 10 miles down the road to La Mirada, to continue her swimming career at Division II’s Biola University beginning this fall.
“I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to swim and study for the next four years at Biola University,” Parahnevich said. “The coaches and swimmers on the team made my college decision super easy. I believe that I will be able to thrive in Biola’s atmosphere and I can not wait to start in the fall!”
Parahnevich qualified for the California CIF State Championships in the 200 IM, finishing 29th (2:06.88) in May. She was eighth in the event at the California CIF Southern Division I Sectional meet, while also placing 17th in the 500 free. Parahnevich set the Brea Olinda High School record in the 50 free (24.22r) and 200 IM (2:05.94) during her senior season.
In 2018, Parahnevich was part of Brea Olinda’s school record 200 free relay team (1:40.82). She placed 13th in the 200 IM (2:08.95) and 19th in the 100 back (58.97) at the CIF Southern Division 2 Sectional meet.
Parahnevich swam a school record 52.69 in the 100 free and also was part of Brea Olinda’s school record 200 medley relay (1:51.57) in 2017. She finished 10th in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free at the CIF Southern Division 2 Sectional meet.
As a freshman in 2016, Parahnevich was 20th in the 100 breast (1:08.98) and 21st in the 200 IM (2:10.38) at the sectional meet.
