Bollier, Beisel Among 10 Swimmers on Academic All-American 1st Team

After the Capital One All-District Academic Teams were announced last week, the 140 swimming honorees all advanced to vie for the title of  Capital One Academic All-American At large.

This award represents the best-of-the-best in student athletes from 12 recognized sports (which can be seen here), with each school being able to nominate only three men and three women. In this round, the competition took a huge step up, as all 8 divisions were combined into one to award First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors. The awards are presented by CoSIDA, a national association of college Sports Information Directors.

Swimmers, with 6 men and 4 women on the 1st-team, have more entries in Division I than any other list.

I think Beisel’s a telecommunications major. (Which is probably the most apt major anyone has ever had.)

What is the criteria to get this honor? Do you have to go and score at NCAA’s? Even then, this is the first time for Wendy Trott and she always has great grades and won NCAA’s in her first 3 years…just an example.

You should have listed the swimmers from ALL Divisions as you did with the All-District team.
