Originally from Patras, Greece Theodora Drakou is a sprint specialist and a Greek Olympian. Born February 6, 1992 Drakou is a versatile athlete, with the ability to swim backstroke and freestyle events at international competitions.

2012 London Olympics
At just 20 years old Drakou qualified for her first Olympic Team. In London she swam two individual events, the 50 and 100-meter freestyle as well as the 4×100-meter free relay. She never advanced from the heats in her events, coming as close as finishing 4th in her heat for the 50-meter free.

2015 World Championships
After the London Olympics Drakou didn’t make many headlines for some time. She resurfaced as a competitor at the 2015 French Golden Tour’s circuit stop in Nancy. She won the 50-meter free after tying for the top seed.

At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Drakou proved some versatility with her finish in the 50-meter back. After advancing to the championship final by sneaking through semi’s in 8th place, Drakou finished 8th in the championship final just one second behind the winner. She also swam the 100-meter back, finishing 25th, as well as the 50-meter free with a 19th-place finish.
