Suzuka Hasegawa is a competitive swimmer who represents Japan Internationally.
International Competition
2016 Olympic Games
In Rio, Hasegawa swam the 200 butterfly, where she advanced to semi finals. In semis, she touched the wall in 2:07.33 to earn 9th place, just outside of making the final heat.
2017 World Championships
Hasegawa once again swam the 200 butterfly, this time navigating through both prelims and semi finals to head into finals as the 4th seed. In finals, she touched the wall in 2:07.43, finishing in 6th place overall.
2017 World Junior Championships
In Indianapolis, Hasegawa swam the 100 and 200 fly as well as on Japan’s 4×200 free and 4×100 medley relay, earning medals in all 4. In the 100 fly, she touched for bronze in 58.60, while in the 200 she earned silver in 2:08.29. Both relays swam to 3rd place finishes.
2018 Pan Pacific Championships
At her home championships in Tokyo, Hasegawa swam the 100 and 200 fly. In the 200, she advanced to the final and placed 4th (2:08.70), just outside of medaling. In the 100, she qualified for the B-heat, placing 13th (59.78) overall.
2018 Asian Games
In Jakarta, Hasegawa swam the 200 fly, where she moved onto finals and touched in 3rd (2:08.80), earning her first senior international medal.
2018 Short Course World Championships
In Hangzhou, Hasegawa picked up a bronze medal in the 200 butterfly (2:04.04). The time was more than a second off her personal best of 2:02.96 from the Metropolitan New Year Swim Meet (1/14/17).
