Sophie Hansson was an immediate impact swimmer for the wolf pack. At her first ACC Championships, Hansson won the 100 yard breast at the in an ACC and pool record (57.74) and brought home the 200 breast title (2:06.73) as well. In addition, Hansson was part of the ACC and pool record setting 200 medley (1:34.52) and 200 free (1:26.15) relays, was a member of the ACC title winning 400 medley relay and runner-up 400 free relay teams, and finished 4th in the 200 IM (1:56.81).
At her first NCAA Championships, Hansson finished third in the 100 breast (57.90) and 200 breast (2:06.18), and was a member of NC State’s 3rd place 200 medley relay, 4th place 400 medley relay and 10th place 400 free relay teams.
International Competition
2015 World Jr Championships (Singapore, Singapore)
Hansson was the silver medalist in the 50 breast and 100 breast at the 2015 Junior Worlds.
2016 Olympic Games (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sophie Hansson competed in the 100 breast, finishing 27th overall (1:08.67).
2017 European Short Course Championships (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Hansson won gold with the 4×50 medley relay and bronze in the 50 breast at the 2017 European Championships.
