Mitchell Gartland
Mitchell Gartland is a breaststroke specialist from Newtown Square, Pa. Born Feb. 24, 1996 Gartland is on the swimming team at the University of Michigan, where he’s studying in the College of Engineering. Gartland’s mother, Kathryn, graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and his brother, Jon, swam at Towson University from 2012-2014. After graduating from Radnor High School and swimming for Radnor Aquatic Club, Gartland chose to swim for Michigan under Head Coach Mike Bottom. At the District One Class AAA Championships his senior year, Gartland broke the longest-standing Radnor school record in the 100 breaststroke, which had been held since 1977.

2014-2015
Gartland is currently in his freshman year as a Michigan Wolverine. He competed in the dual meet season, and made his collegiate debut against Indiana, Louisville and Texas.
National Competition
Gartland won the 200m breaststroke at the 2013 Speedo Sectionals, and he also qualified for the USA Junior Nationals and the 2013 USA Winter Junior Nationals. At Radnor High School Gartland was a two-time All-American, All-State in 2014, two-time All-Conference, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
