Michelle Coleman
Born Oct. 31, 1993 Michelle Coleman is a Swedish freestyle and backstroke specialist. Standing 6’0″ Coleman was born in Vallentuna, and she has been swimming since she was a child. She’s very grateful for her success in swimming, and writes on her personal website that she hopes to inspire others and give back to the sport. She adds that if she’s not training or in the pool, you can find her hanging out with her friends or in front of the television, watching a good movie. NEC
Coleman trains at the NEC, Swedish simnings elitcentum – one of the Swedish Olympic Committee’s top talent programs. Swimmers in this program have the potential to win an Olympic medal within the next three-to-six years, which fits Coleman’s potential. She recently broke the Swedish National Record in the 200m backstroke by more than three seconds.

2012 Olympics and beyond
Coleman qualified for her first Olympic Games in 2012 at just 18 years old – she competed on Sweden’s 400m medley and freestyle relays. She won silver on that same 400m freestyle relay at the 2012 European Championships. In the same year Coleman swam at the World Cup in Dubai, winning a silver medal in the 100m freestyle.

Newcomer of the Meet
In 2013 Coleman competed at the European Championships, finishing with a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke in addition to her silver medal in the 200m freestyle relay. Coleman was a leg of the 400m freestyle relay that broke the World Record. And after the 2013 European Championships media named her one of the “Newcomers of the Meet.”

Current
The next year she won a bronze in the 100m freestyle at the 2014 European Championships. She’s ranked among the top-10 fastest 200m freestyle swimmers in the 2o15.

2016 Rio Olympics

Coleman finished 7th in the 200M free, helped Sweden to a 5th place finish in the 4x200M Free Relay, and a 9th place in the preliminary heats of the 4X100M Medley Relay.
