Guilherme Costa is a competitive swimmer who represents Brazil internationally. Costa has broken both the South American and Brazilian records in the 800 and 1,500 free multiple times.
2018 Pan Pacific Championships (Tokyo, Japan)
At his first pan pacs, Costa placed 4th in the 800 (7:51.67), 1,500 (15:03.40), and as a part of Brazil’s 4×200 free relay.
2019 World Championships (Gwangju, South Korea)
In Gwangju, Costa placed 21st in the 800 free (7:58.67) and 25th in the 1,500 (15:20.73).
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
Costa won the 1500 free title at the Pan American games, clocking a 15:09.93. This marked Costa’a first major international medal.
2019 US Open (Atlanta, Georgia)
Costa was a revelation in Atlanta, taking U.S. Open titles in the 400 free, 800 free, and 1500 free. He won the 400 (3:46.57) by over a second, the 800 (7:47.37) by over two seconds, and the mile (14:55.49) by over seven seconds. For his hard work, he was rewarded with new South American continental records in all three events.
2022 World Championships
On day 1 in Budapest, Costa earned the first world championship medal of his career. Swimming in the 400 final, Costa clocked a 3:43.31, touching just .27 ahead of 4th place to earn bronze and break his own South American record.
