Emily Green
Background
Born in 1993 to Leah McClement and John Green, Emily began her swim career in Lincoln, Nebraska. Starting summer league swimming at age 9, and progressing to year-round club swimming at age 10, swimming quickly became the center of Emily’s life. Through years of commitment, Emily has achieved a successful swimming career and is currently competing in her senior year at Minnesota State University Mankato, majoring in communication studies and marketing.
Club
Emily had multiple coaches through her club years, spending almost 8 years at Nebraska Aquatics in Lincoln, NE. Emily posted qualifying times for Sectionals, Grand Prix series, Junior Nationals, and Senior Nationals.
College
2011-2012: Emily began her collegiate swimming career at the University of Vermont in the America East Conference. Competing in mainly sprint freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly, Emily was part of the freshman record breaking 200 yard free, 400 yard free, and 200 yard medley. Finished 16th in the 100 yard butterfly at the America East Conference Championships.
2012-2013: Emily transferred to Division II school Minnesota State University, Mankato for her sophomore year. Competing at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Emily helped lead MSU’s 200 yard free relay, 400 yard free relay, and 200 yard medley relay to 2nd place finishes and all conference honors. Individually, Emily finished 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke and earned an NCAA B cut.
2013-2014: Emily had a very successful junior year competing for the Minnesota State University, Mankato mavericks. After claiming 1st place in the 100 yard backstroke, 2nd place in the 50 yard freestyle, and 200 yard backstroke at the NSIC conference championship, Emily was named NSIC swimmer of the year. Emily qualified for the Division II NCAA championships in the 100 yard backstroke, also competing in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle. Finishing 9th in the 100 yard backstroke at NCAAs, Emily earned Honorable mention All-American honors.
