Dan Kelly
Dan Kelly (known simply as “DK” by his teammates), is a Senior at Boston College studying communication and marketing. As an avid swimmer since the age of four, Dan has competed in a many events but has since focused solely on sprint freestyle claiming he has “retired any race longer than 60 seconds.” In addition to swimming, Dan plays club water polo for Boston College, and has been honored as a first team All-American by the Collegiate Water Polo Association.
2014-2015
As a Junior Dan went undefeated for the second year in a row in the 50-yard freestyle during the regular season. At the ACC Championship in late February, Dan took 18th place with a time of 19.96. He was also a member of the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays, which both set new school records.
2013-2014
As a Sophomore Dan went undefeated throughout the regular season in the 50-yard freestyle until he ultimately took twelfth at the ACC Championships with a time of 19.90. Arguably, his best performance came at the end of the 200-yard medley relay where he split 18.90, leading his relay to a new school record of 1:29.29. By the end of the season Dan held seven school records, and was named the team’s Most Valuable Performer.
2012-2013
As a freshmen Dan bettered his high school best of 21.29 in the 50-yard freestyle by nearly a full second – shattering an 18-year-old school record with a time of 20.43 seconds. Additionally, Dan was a member of two record-setting relays (200-yard medley, 200 yard freestyle).
California Aquatics (Summer 2014)
In the summer of 2014, Dan trained and competed in Berkeley, California with the Cal Golden Bears under Coach Dave Durden. He quickly joined in on the success of the program when he competed at the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championship and qualified for Olympic Trials in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 23.25 seconds.
