Chris Leon
Chris Leon is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley where he’s studying Micro and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology and aspires to become a surgeon. He wanted to swim in college because it offered him an escalated level of competition. Leon is a 6’1″ breaststroke specialist who added another layer of depth to the Cal breaststroke events. Born July 18, 1993 to parents, Robert and Cynthia, Leon grew up in northern California where he attended Berean Christian High School. He initially decided to move down south and attend UC Santa Barbara, but after one season as a Gaucho Leon transferred to Berkeley. Leon is athletic, and played on the football team before deciding to focus on swimming.
UCSB
2011-2012
As a freshman Gaucho tied for 17th in the 100 breaststroke, but didn’t hit his best time from high school. He also finished 16th in the 200 breaststroke, making it into the ‘B’ final.
UC Berkeley
2012-2013
Leon transferred to Cal from UCSB. He competed in dual meets.
2013-2014
In his junior year, he competed at the AT&T National Championships swimming the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
2014-2015
Leon has already swam a sub-two minute 200 breaststroke this season, earning an NCAA ‘B’ cut. He’s in his senior year.
National Competition
In his high school years at Berean Christian he was a three-time MVP and has eight school records. He’s also a two-time All-American and a Scholastic All-American.
