Allison Snyder

Allison Snyder didn’t just join the UNC Asheville Women’s Swim Team at the start of the 2014/2015 season; she proudly joined the D-Crew. Snyder has been a committed member of the distance-training group every day of the season.

Background

Snyder grew up in Cary, North Carolina with her parents and older sister, who serves as her inspiration. She was a member of her church’s Youth Council from middle school through high school. Snyder swam for YOTA swim team from age six until high school graduation. There, she had the opportunity to be on the YMCA National Team from 2010 to 2014.

Snyder swam for Apex High School where she competed in the 4A State Championships in the 500 freestyle her senior year. She was also named team captain and received the Coaches Award in 2014.

Freshman Year

Snyder raced the 1000 freestyle at nearly every dual meet during the regular season, scoring fourth place points or better at four meets. At the Bulldogs dual meet against Queens, Snyder earned valuable first place points in the 500 freestyle to help Asheville earn a win. At the Bulldogs dual meet against North Florida University, she earned third place points in the 200 breaststroke. At the 2015 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Championships, Snyder individually scored 25 points for the Bulldogs. Additionally, Snyder earned a personal best time in the 500 freestyle. Most impressively, she was a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that dropped 11 seconds off the Bulldogs varsity record. Snyder finished the season with CCSA All-Academic Honors.

Sophomore Year
Snyder developed her distance freestyle and 200 breaststrokes skills early on in the season. She earned valuable top third place points in dual meets for the Bulldogs. Snyder raced to a best time in the 200 breaststroke early in the season at the 2015 Georgia Tech Mid Season Invitational. Snyder continued to succeed in the pool leading up to the 2016 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships. Snyder bested her 200 breaststroke time, touching the wall at 2:25.34. The time earned the Bulldogs 14th place points. Snyder also earned a best time in the mile and scored 17th place points.
