If anyone is stupid enough to think Lakeisha Patterson lost to Jess Long because Jess was the better swimmer then they are living in cloud lala land.
LP over the last year has won open water AB events she has been so positive about her training and yet she fails to beat a swimmer with legs missing.
She would have been 2-3 mtrs ahead at the start due to her dive, then their is her tumble turn yet again another advantage and she loses by less than 2sec ???
Classification is coming up time to lose a few races to genuine S8 swimmers and look like she is struggling before another master class in faking her conditions.… Read more »

As long as they want it to I guess. If they know all about this and have been happy to let it go on, how do they now stop it? Is her Cerebral Palsy suddenly going to get better? More than one person is responsible for this all the way down the line from the IPC staff, the classifiers, Australian Swimming, Patterson and her family. Very sad and unethical indeed. Did they think no one would notice?

Agree Mark. She put a lot of time on her 100 free and wouldn’t be at all surprised if she was told not to repeat the Com Games debacle where she beat all the S9s including Cole.

Sadly several Australian Para Swimmers both male and female have alleged that Paralympic Program Director and High Performance Manager Adam Pine and other senior Australian Para swimming officials are encouraging swimmers to cheat the system. Especially when it comes to IPC classification and reclassification, several athletes have stated they were instructed to exaggerate there disabilities to remain in the Australian team.

The swimmers have alleged that Pine had told them he preferred swimmers more able bodied than disabled. This is the main reason why Mr Pine is extremely protective of Lakeisha Patterson, Paige Leonhardt, Jasmine Greenwood, Abigail Lihou, Rowan Crothers and now Ricky Betar.
