Australian Marathon Standout Chloe McCardel Establishing Masters English Channel Relay Teams

The English Channel, considered by some as swimming’s Mount Everist, is a truly monumental swim.  Although the distance of 21 miles is impressive, it’s the conditions in the channel that make this one of the toughest open water swims.  The first successful crossing was  by Captain Matthew Webb in 1875 – it wasn’t until 1911 that the next person, Thomas Burgess, made it across.  And ever since swimmers from around the world have taken to the water between Dover England and France to claim their own personal victories.

Australian Chloe McCardel has crossed the channel 6 times (twice in single crossings and twice in double crossings); she’s one of the more prolific swimmers to complete these treacherous waters.

In 2015 Chloe is assembling a relay of masters swimmers to make the crossing.  This is a unique opportunity to swim the famous channel under the coaching Chloe – one of the greatest swimmers to successful complete the English Channel.  Chloe and her crew are seeking applications of interest for the team until July 1st.

Swimmers chosen for the team will be coached and mentored in Dover England and the top boat pilots and observers will be on hand to aid in the crossing.  If you’re interested in being a part of the team visit Chloe’s website.
