The Australian swim team set the tone of day four in the first two events of the final. Belinda Hocking and Emily Seebohm finished first and second in the 200 backstroke before James Magnussen, Cameron McEvoy, and Tomasso D’Orsonga swept the men’s 100 freestyle. They continued to win 11 of the 21 available swimming medals from day four, which is more than every other country combined.
England earned two gold medals and a bronze to finish second as a country for the day. Although they had the second best performance, they were slightly off the pace they have been at all week. They improve to 19 medals for the week.
After being over-taken by South Africa on day 3, Scotland had a strong performance, winning a silver medal and two bronze medals. They are now back to third in the running medal count for the sport of swimming.
New Zealand and the Bahama’s also earned their first medals of the Commonwealth Games today.

Yep. Back in the late ’70’s & early ’80’s. In fact, at the 1978 Games in Edmonton, Canada – I believe – led the medal count.
