St. Peters Western Head Coach Michael Bohl is bringing quite a squad to the 2016 Olympic Games. Among the 7-strong roster of racers from his club are double World Champion Mitch Larkin, breakthrough star Emma McKeon and even his own daughter, 19-year-old breaststroker Georgia Bohl.
Not a stranger to guiding athletes to the world’s biggest international swimming stage, Bohl shot to international fame via his mega-athlete, Stephanie Rice, the triple gold medalist who earned Female Swimmer of the Meet at the 2008 Olympic Games. Rice was one of 3 swimmers at that competition, which Bohl increased to a line-up of 9 when he trekked to London for the 2012 Olympics.
Recently at the Australian Olympic Team’s training camp at Auburn University, Bohl was mic’d up as he shouted splits to his swimmers and prescribed the next set. Green and gold caps and suits grace the screen of the short video, which gives us just a glimpse into what makes one of the most successful minds of Australian swimming tick.
In addition to Larkin, McKeon and Bohl, Coach Bohl also has Bronte Barrett, Madison Wilson, Madeline Groves and Grant Irvine under his tutelage, all looking for hardware in Rio.
