2016 Futures Championships – Atlanta
- August 4th-7th, 2016
- Atlanta, Georgia (Georgia Tech)
- Psych sheets
The psych sheets for the 2016 Futures Championships site in Atlanta, Georgia have been released.
This is the second year where this meet series, designed to provide a stepping stone between the Sectional Championships and Junior Nationals, have existed. The dates overlap with the U.S. Open and Junior Nationals, which combined with excluding swimmers with U.S. Open times limits them from being overrun by swimmers with cuts for higher meets.
This year’s series expands from 3 meets in 2015 to 4, with sites in Atlanta, Austin, Stanford, and College Park.
Among the familiar names at this meet is 14-year old Tristen Ulett from the local Dynamo Swim Club. She was one of the youngest swimmers at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials where she was 80th in the 100 back and 115th in the 100 fly and is a 13-14 National Age Group Record holder
Per the rules of this meet, she won’t be able to swim either of those races at this meet. USA Swimming originally chose not to allow any swimmer with U.S. Open cuts to swim in this meet, but later amended the selection criteria to simply limit them from swimming those events in which they had the time standard.
Another rising star in this meet on the men’s side is defending Tennessee High School State Champion in the 100 fly Caleb Harrington. He’ll be the 3rd seed in the 100 fly and the top seed in the 200 fly.
There are many meets for young Americans at that period. I just hope that the best kids swim against each other at US junior nationals.
with school starting in Georgia this Monday, our club is not swimming at jr Natls…This will be our last LCM of season/Futures
All the psyche sheets are up on usaswimming site except for Austin…get on it Texas!
Could you post the links to the other sites’ psyche sheets? I can’t find them on usaswimming.org

Why don’t they have the other meets out yet? They all had the same entry deadlines!
I understood the meet sheet differently. If you have US Open times you can not swim those events but you can still swim your slow events if they are not too slow.
swimtroll – from the meet information (emphasis is mine):
These championships are open to swimmers who are members of USA Swimming, and who have achieved the published time standard in one or more events, however any swimmer who has achieved one or more qualifying standards for the 2016 U.S. Open Championships before Monday, June 6, 2016 is not eligible to participate in the Futures Championships. Additionally, any swimmer who achieves one or more qualifying standards for the 2016 U.S. Open after entering the 2016 Futures Championships will not be eligible to swim those events at the Futures Championships. In such cases, refunds will not be provided.
They changed the criteria recently
Tom B – so they did, thanks for pointing that out. Updating now.
