As of April 15th, there were already nearly 30 American Olympians committed to swim at the 2013 Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix, which runs from May 9th-12th at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
As of April 15th (the last time our list was updated), there are 20 American Olympians who have committed to attend the meet. That includes names like World Record holders Dana Vollmer and Ryan Lochte, Allison Schmitt, Anthony Ervin, and Ricky Berens, among many, many others.
Among the early story lines are appearances from two American sprinters Amanda Weir and Kara Lynn Joyce. Joyce has confirmed to us that she is not swimming at this year’s World Championship Trials (her brother is getting married on the same day as the 50 free), but the lists show that she will be racing in Charlotte where she trained up until her 2012 Olympic berth.
Missy Franklin will be sitting this one out as well it seems (barring a late entry). This would be the first Grand Prix meet of the 2012-2013 season that she’ll miss.
Among other notable commitments include Stephanie Peacock. She was the 2012 NCAA Champion and NCAA Record breaker in the 1650 freestyle, but missed NCAA’s in 2013 with some health issues. She is registered for this meet, and her coach Rich DeSelm has confirmed that she will be swimming. Given how fast she’s risen in the distance races (think the female version of Connor Jaeger), this is exciting news for anyone looking for the Katie Ledecky/Kate Ziegler/Chloe Sutton distance battle to get even more interesting this summer.

I agree with BOBO GIGI. Mann will be there for sure this summer. I am willing to bet she makes WC in 1500.
You talk about a Katie Ledecky/Kate Ziegler/Chloe Sutton distance battle with now Stephanie Peacock additionally. It’s rare but I completely disagree with you on this point. First, there will be no battle with Katie Ledecky. She’s apart from the others. And second, I believe you forget Gillian Ryan and Becca Mann for the second American spot.
