ASU Secures Verbal Commitment from Tualatin Hills’ Caitlyn Wilson

Arizona State‘s recruiting season continues to heat up, as the Sun Devils have secured a verbal commitment from Caitlyn Wilson to their class of 2021.

Wilson comes from Tualatin Hills Swim Club in Oregon. A distance free specialist, she is also impressive in the IM’s and the 200 fly.

Top Times (SCY)

  • 200 free – 1:50.83
  • 500 free – 4:53.59
  • 1650 free – 16:56.75
  • 200 fly – 2:04.24
  • 200 IM – 2:07.84
  • 400 IM – 4:27.65

Wilson finished as the runner-up in both the 200 free and 500 free at last year’s Oregon 6A State Championships. She swims prep for Southridge High School.

This past summer, she scored a 5th place finish in the mile at the Stanford Futures Championships. At the 2016 U.S. Junior Nationals, she finished within the top 30 in the 400, 800, and 1500 free races.

At last season’s Pac-12 Championships, Wilson would have scored 18th overall in the mile. It took a 4:51.75 to score in the 500 free, which isn’t much quicker than her current best. Anna Olasz was the only ASU swimmer to score (or even swim) the mile last season at Pac-12’s, and she’ll graduate after this season, making Wilson’s arrival very timely.

Wilson joins Emma Nordin, Nora Deleske and Erica Laning as future Sun Devils in the class of 2021.
