The Arcadia University women will be getting a boost in their sprint group following Madison McKay‘s verbal commitment to join the Knights next fall. McKay will be moving up north to join the team after she graduates from Heritage High School in Virginia at the end of this school year.
“I am so excited to swim for Arcadia University! It’s been my dream since I was little. I love the school, the team, and the coaches. I couldn’t be more excited to attend AU next year!”
McKay, a member of Snow Swimming, is primarily a sprint freestyler with a focus on the 50 free and 100 free at her championship meets. Last season, she was a top 10 performer in both sprint freestyle events at the 2016 Virgina 4A High School League Championships. There, she placed 9th in the 50 free and 10th in the 100 free.
McKay’s Top Times:
- 50 free- 25.29
- 100 free- 55.87
- 200 free- 2:03.94
- 200 IM- 2:21.37
McKay should be a major player right away for Arcadia at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. Her freestyle skill set makes her a scoring asset individually, and she’ll likely take on a few relay roles as well. At last season’s conference meet, her personal best in the 50 free would’ve been just .01 shy of what it took to make the championship final. Additionally, she has times that are fast enough to have made the B-final of the 100 free, 200 free, and 200 IM.
