Day three of the 2024 Aquatics GB Olympic Trials brought the heat, with Max Litchfield firing off a new national record in the men’s 400m IM followed by a fast and furious men’s 100m free final.

When the dust settled, Matt Richards qualified for his 2nd Olympic Games, hitting a time of 47.84 to top the men’s 100m free podium. Behind him was Duncan Scott who notched a mark of 47.92, also under the qualification time needed for Paris.

Tom Dean and Alexander Cohoon wrapped up the men’s 4x100m free relay qualification.

Daniel Jervis kicked things off with a Paris-worthy effort in the men’s 1500m free while reigning world champion in the 400m IM, Freya Colbert, got it done in that event tonight as well.

We’re going to get very close to that 30 swimmer limit when you think of who should still qualify in the coming days. Some of the swimmers who hit the A cut but not the british standard will not fall within that cap.

Well 20 have all but qualified so far if you include Anderson and Whittle. What other 10 swimmers are likely? Proud, Greenbank, Guy, Peters, Osrin, Evans and Hanlon are the only 7 I can see close to Standard Times. Then Wilby, McMillan and Okaro for relays?

Is there a 30 swimmer limit total? There’s 14 Male Events, 14 Female Events and 7 relays. 30 is such a low #

Yeah those 10 + either whittle for the 4×1 relay or Cumberlidge qualifying in the 50 Free.

Whoops missed that you included Whittle so ignore my first comment. If you’re including Whittle (/Cumberlidge) then that’s 21 not 20 swimmers all but confirmed. Add in the 10 you mentioned means we’re at 31.

I think we want a 6th swimmer for the 4×2 too so that’s 32.

We may have to leave Wilby off the team then hope one of the 7 swimmers who CAN hit the time misses it (Maybe Kara Hanlon?), otherwise we’re looking at just 5 swimmers for the 4×2.

M. Litchfield could be 6the swimmer for 4×200 (assuming MacMilan is the 5th) if they run out of spots.

I’m not including Bird as he didn’t hit the nomination standard so it’s 20 with Whittle and Anderson and I don’t think he would be in the extra 10 they discretionarily choose.

Forgot James Wilby in the last section

If Robinson gets the Under the Fina A time shout could James Wiley also be added for the 100 breast? He also dipped below it by 0.02!

Robinson already on the team for Openwater so if he wants the 1500 swim I feel sure Team GB will let him swim it. Wilby will have to wait and see with team size limits whether he gets included or not, but I suspect if they can they will take him as backup for medley relays as well the individual swim 🤞 for his sake.
