Men’s 200 Butterfly – 2014 Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte – Reported by SwimSwam
It was a fairly close race through the first 50 of the men’s 200 butterfly. Dylan Bosch, the NCAA champion in this race, had the lead at the 100. In the final 50, Andrew Seliskar ran down Bosch to win in the final 20 meters. Seliskar’s final time was 1:57.40, and he finished almost a second ahead of Dylan Bosch. Bosch touched in second at 1:58.34. Tom Luchsinger managed to get into the wall for third place with a 1:58.77. Chase Kalisz finished fourth as the final swimmer to break 2 minutes in this event with a 1:59.27. Thiago Pereira dropped more than three seconds to win the B-final of the men’s 200 butterfly with a final time of 1:59.73.
Huge American tradition on the men’s 200 fly.
I’ve made a few researches and the following names have been world record holders.
Mike Troy
Carl Robie
Mark Spitz
John Ferris
Gary Hall Sr
Mike Bruner
Craig Beardsley
Mel Stewart!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tom Malchow
And of course the greatest of all-time Michael Phelps
USA is looking for a new dominant swimmer in that event since MP.
Can Mr Seliskar become that swimmer?
Justin Lynch is also a talented American flyer that could develop into an elite swimmer.
he is the american open record holder for the 200y butterfly (dylan bosch) he broke the record at NCAAs formerly held as a tie by both michael phelps and tom sheilds
Correction, South African…not sure why I said Canadian
Bosch is Canadian thus not the American RH.
he is south african
yea, Olympic Trials are a little far away…..but US Nationals are in three months! I predict he will win the 200 fly at that meet.
….as we near Olympic Trials? It is way too early to start speculating about trials at this point. The landscape could look completely different – over 2 years from now.
Well spoken and nice young man. I like his breaststroke and especially his starts. Seliskars are from Slovenia. I wonder if his father is from there and weather he would consider swimming for Slovenia in Olympics if he cannot make US team?
That would be interesting to see
