During tonight’s finals session at the Bill Nixon Invitational in Lewisville, Texas, Arkansas Dolphins’ Swim Team Andrew Rogers has lowered the own shiny, new 100m butterfly National Age Group Record that he set just this morning. Rogers’ new mark of 1:05.98 blew away his already historic time of 1:06.52 from prelims, making him the fastest 10&U male swimmer to ever break the 1:06-barrier in the event.
Rogers’ morning swim overtook the previous NAG held by Cincinnati Marlin Carson Foster, whose 1:07.24 was enough to steal the record held at the time by none other than the man himself, Michael Phelps.
A comparison of Carson Foster’s 1:07.24 and Andrew Rogers’ 1:05.98 splits:
Foster: 31.42/35.82 – 1:07.24
Rogers: 31.89/34.09 – 1:05.98
Rogers continues to drop major time in the event, having claimed 1:07.56 as his pre-Nixon best from just one month ago. This meters race is added to the 100 yard fly NAG the 10-year old already holds, but Rogers will be aging up at the end of June, leaving him a whole new slate of records to conquer.
