The NCAA Men’s D1 Swimming & Diving Championships begin tomorrow night with the opening 800 free relay, as the top collegiate men in D1 will compete this week in Minneapolis, MN.

Pretty pretty crazy stat. After Dressel broke the 200IM and 100 Breast records, the oldest individual record (sans the 1000 free) on the men’s side is his 50 free
That’s wild. Great stat! Definitely shows continuous growth and fast swimming from these guys.
I wonder if we’ll see the 200 free relay record go down anytime soon. Still stands at a crazy 1:14.08 from Auburn in 2009. (J. Andkjaer-18.89, G. Louw-18.33, K. Norys-18.67, M. Targett-18.19)

I’m excited for tonight, when are the relay lineups announced?
I think a lot of your predictions are pretty solid, but a few things stand out for me.
1. I don’t see Gonzalez going 3:33 (yet). Kalisz did that the same year he went 4:05 in the LC 400 IM, and I don’t think Gonzalez is there yet.
2. Also, while an 18.0 from Dressel would be amazing, it seems that he is focused more on his endurance which might take a hit on his speed. I say he still has a best time in him, but dropping over a tenth might be too much to ask. That being said, the worst mistake one can make is doubt Caeleb Dressel…

Almost show time, will the 800 free relay preview article be going up soon? Also I expect a live stream of everything that Dean Farris does this weekend so we may properly assess how it is possible to become so otherworldly.

Too bad the doofuses at the PAC-12 and PAC-12 network can’t do the same thing and come to terms with DirecTV. Oh, that’s right, they’re led by the incompetent commissioner Larry Scott.
