MEN’S 200 FLY:
- Alexei Sancov (USC) – 1:42.20
- Alex Liang (STAN) – 1:43.45
- Jace Brown (TAMU) – 1:45.71
Alexei Sancov, who spent last season as primarily a freestyler for USC, swam a lifetime best to win the 200 fly tonight. Sancov’s previous best was 1:44.51 from 2018. Stanford’s Alex Liang was next in, just off his personal best of 1:42.74. Sancov’s endurance was on display, splitting 25.87 on the 3rd 50.
There is no way he will ever set the world record. I don’t believe he can do that 😉
Does anyone think that it’s ironic that he goes from saying that he needs to stop with the empty promises in one breath, to saying he’s going to win a Pac-12 title in the next?
He’s only wrong if it doesn’t happen, right?
His judgement is clouded if he thinks a pac-12 title means anything. He needs to A-final three events in March.
I’m sorry you had to see the negative comments but I’m happy you turned it into a positive. It’s fun to see you swimming best times again. Fight on!
Comments are the best part of this website, love reading them in between practices
I like him, but it looks like he is being continuously in defensive position against something that I don’t understand what it is. As soon as he starts smiling during public interview things will start getting much more pleasant in his life.Take it easy, Леша.
He needs to swim fast in March so the program will attract more top level swimmers. The men’s program at SC has lost a lot of momentum after last year.
That program is a dumpster fire.
Until Salo leaves it will never reach full potential
I think this is the 30 year anniversary of the beginning is Salo bashing. Enlighten us, what is so damaging about Dr. Salo that limits USC? There are many coaches that are glorified on here that wouldn’t do any better (and would probably do worse).
But but…tHeY dOnT dO eNoUgH yArDaGE
Salo is a treasure. Don’t feed the trolls
Just wondering if Katinka agrees sccoach?
I wonder if Rebecca Soni agrees
Salo wasn’t the right coach for Katinka, she needed a psycho to yell at her and be her boyfriend
Rebecca Soni won NCAA Titles before
Really, you are going to run with that? We get it, you don’t like Salo but for you to not at least advance that Salo did wonders with her breaststroke (especially the 200 LCM) reveals your inability to be in any way objective. She was barely breaking 2:30 under Schubert, but went 2:20 less than 2 years after Salo started working with her. Funny thing is that for all the hate Salo gets thrown at him, his swimmers always seem to get better in the big pool, even though that is supposed to be the domain of mega yardage old school coaches that everyone wants to worship.
Finally someone speaking some sense
Just wondering

He wants to prove the Doubters wrong. Yes, there’s plenty of Doubters on SwimSwam.
He sounds like a bit of an emotional swimmer who thrives on inspiration and motivation to push himself to be a better swimmer.
I guess we’re SwimSwam “influencers” now. Cool.
I want my paycheck SwimSwam
yep , all the good stuff
