This Week: The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams travel to Honolulu for a dual meet against the University of Hawai’i, Friday, Oct. 30, at theDuke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. Diving will start at 2:00 p.m. followed by swimming at 3:15 p.m.
This Season: The men’s team is a perfect 5-0 overall this season. After opening the season with wins over BYU and Colorado Mesa, Oct. 9-10, in Grand Junction, Colo., the Falcons then posted wins over conference rival North Dakota, Colorado Mesa and Colorado Mines in a multi-team meet at the Academy.
The women’s team is 8-3 overall this season. The Falcons defeated West Florida and Arkansas-Little Rock in Pensacola, Fla., Oct. 16-17, and then earned wins over North Dakota, Colorado Mesa, CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Mines in a multi-team meet at the Academy last week.
Weekly Honors: Genevieve Miller and Nathanael Zillweger have both earned conference weekly honors this season.
Miller, a junior from Winston-Salem, N.C., was named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week for competition completed through Sunday, Oct. 18. It was the third MW weekly accolade of Miller’s career. Miller led Air Force to a 4-2 record at a multi-team event hosted by West Florida, Oct. 16-17. Going back to a dual meet with New Mexico on Oct. 9, Miller won seven individual events over the three days of competition, while also swimming on several relay teams.
Zillweger, a senior from Phoenix, Ariz., was named the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week for his performance in a multi-team meet at the Academy, Oct. 24.He won both the one-meter and three-meter events, Oct. 24. He scored 280.10 on the 1-meter and 301.15 on the 3-meter.
Men’s Top Times: The Air Force men’s team has several individuals that rank among the top 10 in the Western Athletic Conference.
50 Free: Jordan Dahle ranks sixth (20.73), Symen Ooms ranks ninth (20.90) while Steffen Mount is 10th (21.04).
100 free: Dahle ranks second (44.90), Lars Knutson ranks fourth (45.49), Michael Hannigan ranks eighth (45.82) and George Frank is ninth (45.91).
200 free: Dahle ranks fourth (1:40.79), Andrew Faciszewski ranks fifth (1:40.84) while Hannigan is seventh (1:41.54).
500 free: Faciszewski ranks first (4:34.75), Kevin Jackson is fifth (4:37.86), Garrett Glaudini is sixth (4:37.98), Collin Green is ninth (4:41.70) and Matthew Walls is 10th(4:41.80).
1000 free: Glaudini is fourth (9:36.91) and Walls is ninth (9:53.43).
1650 free: The Falcons hold the top three times in the conference, and five of the top six. Jackson ranks first (16:02.76), Faciszewski is second (16:04.03), Glaudini is third (16:04.46), Green is fifth (16:27.20) and Walls is sixth (16:53.34).
100 back: Devon Davis is second (49.48), Corey Gutierrez is fifth (50.97), Joey Gebhart is sixth (51.16), Slater Whiston is eighth (51.87) and Kris Tillery is 10th (52.14).
200 back: Tillery is fifth (1:51.90), Gebhart is ninth (1:53.64) and Whiston is 10th (1:53.81).
100 breast stroke: Michael Barnosky is first (54.40), Zach Knoche is third (56.58) while Kevin Fanter is seventh (56.90).
200 breast stroke: Barnosky is fifth (2:02.13), Knoche is third (2:05.45), Fanter is fifth (2:05.93).
100 fly: Sean Ledford is fifth (50.41) and Barnosky is seventh (50.88)
200 fly: Ledford is third (1:51.27), Faciszewski is fourth (1:53.00) and Green is fifth (1:54.41)
200 IM: Barnosky is third (1:51.48), Fanter is ninth (1:54.66), Derek Brecht is 10th (1:54.84).
400 IM: Faciszewski is third (3:59.39), Green is fourth (4:04.86), Glaudini is sixth (4:06. 17) and Brecht is seventh (4:06.37).
Women’s Top Times: Several members of the Air Force women’s swimming and diving teams rank among the top times in the Mountain West.
500 free: Genevieve Miller ranks third (4:57.90) and Sara Menke is 10th (5:07.05)
1000 free: Miller ranks first (10:09.38) and Menke is fourth (10:23.86)
1650 free: Miller ranks second (17:19.40) and Menke is third (17:30.71)
100 back: Elise Hart is 10th (57.30)
100 fly: Maria Schroeder is fifth (56.25) and Hart is ninth (56.88)
200 fly: Jenna Tasic is second (2:04.17) and Schroder is ninth (2:06.21)
400 IM: Miller is fourth (4:31.08) and Emma Strom is sixth (4:32.29).
Diving: Jessica Horn ranks second in the one-meter (272.70) and is fifth in three-meter (257.70).
