Air Force Men Sweep Weekly WAC Honors

The Air Force men’s swimming and diving team swept the Western Athletic Conference weekly awards as Steffen Mount was named the swimmer of the week while Nick Piontek was named the diver of the week.

Mount, a junior from Pensacola, Fla., was Air Force’s top scorer in the dual meet against Wyoming, winning both of his individual events and as part of two relay wins. Individually he won the 50 free (20.72) and the 100 fly (49.71). Mount contributed to the victory in the 200 medley relay as his team posted a time of 1:30.88 and later was victorious in the 400 free relay (3:01.84).

Piontek, a senior from Warrensburg, Mo., took home two victories in the dual meet against Wyoming. In the one-meter diving event, he posted a score of 285.83. He then competed in the three-meter board event and posted a score of 294.75.

The men’s team will swim against conference rival Grand Canyon University, in Phoenix, Ariz., onFriday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m.
