Wolfpack’s Aiden Hayes took first place in the 200 fly tonight, posting a 1:38.79, barely edging out Indiana’s Brendan Burns. Hayes, a sophomore, credits Kacper Stokowski‘s leadership for preparing him to not worry about his competitors and to “stay in [his] own lane the whole race”. He adds that the excitement of seeing his teammates go 1-2 in the mile also inspired his win tonight.
First off Aiden is one of the most jacked 2 flyers I’ve seen in a while also D2 champ Jackson lustig from mckendree would have placed 6th here and as a sophmore that’s pretty good for him.
These interviews have been fantastic — seems like a great bunch of swimmers! So much genuine joy, as it’s got to be a spectacular feeling to have all those years of hard work pay off with a first NCAA title.
