Announcing our Weekly Wonders for the weekend of April 15-17, 2016.

Micayla Cronk, 12, Daytona Beach Swimming: 50m free (27.83) – Entered with a seed time of 29.21 at the DBS Spring Invitational, Cronk crashed straight through the 28s and settled at 27.83 for a new best time by 1.4 seconds. She also picked up new times in the 100 free, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 fly.

Abby Clark, 11, TAC Titans: 100m back (1:10.43) – Clark dropped 3 seconds and won the girls’ 11-12 100 back at the WAVE Sprint Into Spring Long Course Splash. She also won the 50 back. Clark improved her times in every single event she swam over the weekend, and finished in the top 5 in everything but the 50/100 breast. Clark finished the weekend with new times in the 50/100 free, 50/100 back, 50/100 breast, and 50/100 fly.

Abel Black, 12, Pacesetters Aquatic Club: 200m back (2:25.69) – Swimming at the GULF April Open hosted by Energy Core Swimming, Black won the boys’ 11-12 50/100/400 free, 50/100/200 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM. He dropped huge amounts of time in every event, including 16.5 seconds in the 200 back and 40 seconds in the 400 free.

Daniel Roy, 16, Spokane Area Swimming/YMCA: 100m breast (1:04.12) – Roy went a best time in the 100m breast at Arena Pro Swim Series at Mesa, while finishing second in the D final. He was more than 2.1 seconds faster than his PB from last summer. Roy is now only half a second off the Olympic Trials cut in the event.

Jaden Luo, 12, Austin Swim Club: 200m breast (2:47.65) – PBx36) – Luo dropped 36 seconds off his previous personal best in the 200 breast at the ASC Tax Refund Round Up. He also went best times in the 200/400 free, 200 back, 200 fly, and 200 IM.

Averee Preble, 14, Clovis Swim Club: 100y fly (55.60) – Swimming unattached for Clovis High School, Preble scored her first Winter Juniors cut in the 100 fly when she won the event at the Clovis West Invitational meet. Preble went a PB by 1.3 seconds and was nearly 4 seconds faster than she had been last April. The Clovis freshman also won the 100 breast and was on both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Jessica Nava, 16, Pine Crest Swimming: 100m fly (1:00.73) – Nava was .08 off her best time when she won the D final in the women’s 100 fly at Mesa PSS, but she was 1.5 seconds faster than she had been last April in the event. Nava did, however, notch a new personal best in the 100 back during the weekend in Arizona.

Sophia Sebastian, 14, Quicksilver Swimming: 200y IM (2:08.68) – Swimming unattached during high school season, Sebastian went her second-best time ever to win the girls’ 13-and-up 200 yard IM at the Santa Cruz Swimming Age Group Open. She also won the girls’ 13-and-up 200 free, 500 free, and 100 back.

Ams Swimmer, you should mention that’s in SCY.
Some people are gonna think she swims 52.78 in long course at 11. 🙂
Anyway, yards or meters, free or breast, it’s sure she has monster speed.

You forgot to mention 11-year-old Ronald Dalmacio from Rose Bowl Aquatics!

1.02.04 in the 100 back! Long course.
He destroyed the previous best time ever swum by an American kid at 11. It was 1.05.75.
As comparison Ryan Murphy swam 1.06.31 at the same age.
He’s only 1.71s off the 11/12 NAG record of 1.00.33 by Vinny Marciano.

He also swam 2.23.74 in the 200 IM and 5.13.44 in the 400 IM.
