British breaststroker Adam Peaty knocked another .27 seconds off the European Championship Record in the 50 breaststroke on Tuesday evening, swimming a 26.23 to qualify 1st through to the finals in the event. That broke his own record of 26.50 from prelims, which in turn broke the 26.62 that he swam in 2014.
Peaty now holds the 10-fastest performances in the history of the event. That puts him in rare company, alongside Katie Ledecky and Sarah Sjostrom, as the only swimmers to hold the top 10 performances in multiple events.
- Katie Ledecky 400 free (top 11)
- Katie Ledecky 800 free (top 19)
- Adam Peaty, 50 breast (top 10)
- Adam Peaty 100 breast (top 14)
- Sarah Sjostrom 50 fly (top 14)
- Sarah Sjostrom 100 fly (top 11)
*Note – Ledecky only has the top 8 swims ever in the 1500 free, owed to the fact that she’s scratched it at US Nationals a few times, and it not being raced at the Olympics, so she’s had fewer opportunities to swim it at big meets than the 400 and 800.

That is what you call dominance.
MA may just make that list next year.
He good.
