Aaron Green Named Men’s & Women’s Head Swim Coach At Arcadia

GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Aaron Green as the new Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Swimming. Green is set to begin his duties at Arcadia on April 18^th.

Green comes to Glenside after serving as the Head Coach and Aquatics Director at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. While at Hollins, Green oversaw all areas of the program, including day-to-day operations, social media, travel facilitation, academic monitoring, and recruiting. Green also served as a Physical Education Instructor with the University. “I am both grateful and humbled to have been given the incredible opportunity of coaching Arcadia Swimming,” Green said. “When I arrived in Glenside, the energy on campus was palpable. The program’s tradition of inspiring growth in each student-athlete, coupled with the athletic department’s leadership, makes Arcadia the perfect location for this new chapter to begin.”

Prior to his time in Roanoke, Green served as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Lynchburg for two seasons, where he was a part of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021 that coached the women’s team to the ODAC Conference Championship in addition to the men’s team earning the runner-up position in the conference.

Prior to his coaching tenures, Green had a decorated career in the pool at fellow Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) competitor Widener University. Green, a team captain and 2019 Widener Male Athlete of the Year, was a four-time Honorable Mention All-American in addition to being named the MAC Rookie of the Year in 2016 and the David B. Eavenson Award Winner as the MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Green to the Arcadia community,” explained Brian Granata, Arcadia University Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation. “Throughout the interview process, he demonstrated a keen awareness of Division III principles and a commitment to developing student-athletes in the classroom and in the pool. He was a decorated swimmer in the MAC and has a deep understanding of the dynamics within the conference. We are confident that Coach Green possesses the drive and skillset to make a lasting impression on the Arcadia swim program.”

Green graduated from Widener in 2019 earning a degree in Communication Studies with a focus on Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing. In addition to his exploits in the pool, Green also found success in the classroom, being named Academic All-MAC and to the MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2018-2019. While at Widener, Green received the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Scholarship and the Delaware Swim Association Scholarship. Green was a member of Campus Ministry International, Student Government Association, Criminal Justice Organization, Co-President of Black Men United, and SGA Representative of Black Student Union. Green earned a Master’s in Higher Education Leadership from Lynchburg in 2021. “It will be a privilege to work with Athletic Director (Brian) Granata, Associate Athletic Director Michael Hebenstreit and the entire administration, who are truly committed to academic and athletic success,” Green continued. “I, too, am dedicated and determined to further this vision. I am excited for this challenge and to bring continued character, comradery and competitiveness to our talented team.”
