2019 PHILLIPS 66 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
- July 31 – August 4, 2019
- Avery Aquatics Center
- Stanford, CA
- Meet Site
- Psych Sheet
While Nathan Adrian, Lia Neal, and a few other Worlds team members will be heading to Lima, Peru, for the 2019 Pan Ams, 22 Worlds members may be racing in Palo Alto, California, after appearing on the 2019 U.S. Nationals psych sheets. But, of those 22, who is actually going to show up in Palo Alto to swim after traveling back from Gwangju (based on social media)?
MORE OR LESS CONFIRMED
- Allison Schmitt (seen in an IG story in Palo Alto)
- Ashley Twichell (seen in an IG story in Palo Alto)
- Ally McHugh (seen in an IG story in Palo Alto)
- Gabby Deloof (seen in an IG story in Palo Alto)
- Jack LeVant (published an IG post about swimming at Nationals)
- Justin Wright (seen in an IG story in Palo Alto)
- Brooke Forde (father Pat Forde tweeted about it)
- Haley Anderson (published an IG post with location in Palo Alto)
- Regan Smith (has been confirmed for the meet)
MAYBE…?
- Caeleb Dressel
- This morning, posted that he’s ‘flying home tomorrow.’ He’s entered in some off events (like the 200 IM, 100 breast, and 200 free), which would be very intriguing to see him race.
UNKNOWN
- Abbey Weitzeil
- Abrahm Devine (flew home to Seattle per social media)
- Ella Eastin
- Grant Shoults
- Hali Flickinger
- Jack Conger
- Katie Drabot
- Kelsi Dahlia (flew home to Louisville per social media)
- Mallory Comerford (flew home to Louisville per social media)
- Olivia Smoliga
- Zane Grothe
Of the unknown swimmers, Weitzeil, Eastin, Drabot, and Shoults are likely in the Bay Area, anyways, with their training groups at either Cal or Stanford. It isn’t yet confirmed if they’ll be racing.
Speculation and social media aside, we’ll get our answers in the coming days– the first session of the 2019 U.S. Nationals begins tomorrow morning with preliminaries of the 200 fly and 100 free, and timed finals of the women’s 800 free and men’s 1500 free.
Smoliga was there warming up this morning
And she had an IG story from there.
Ella Eastin posted about wearing new Arena suits at nationals on her instagram.
First event, 200m butterfly? Looking forward to see Regan and Luca’s times. Potential new WJR by Regan.
Based on Regan Smith performance I wouldn’t be surprised is she takes the butterfly out fast like she did in the backstroke and she should be able to hang on 2:04
Heat sheets are up at meet site
It can be done at any FINA approved meet until end of August which means Nationals, Pan Ams, and the World Cup cluster starting this weekend.
1:53 + WR Dressel
Does anyone know how many of the 2015 worlds team swam at that year’s nationals? It would be interesting to see the differences
I believe that nationals was going on the same time as worlds. (Remember Phelps and le Clos back and forth in the fly)
Saw Grothe and kelsi on deck
Was Grothe still carrying his piano?
