It was a great morning swim, and Nathan Adrian was pleased. (You can hear him discuss it in his post-race interview here.) Adrian’s 21.90 was the fastest time posted out of prelims, and it tied Jason Lezak’s Los Angeles Invitational meet record from 2009.

Very impressive Adrian ! His arms look so long , strong and what a speedy turn over . Tapered , i beleive he is just around 21.3 this year if he swims it at Nationals of course . 48.3 on 100 free without forcing . Nobody is close to him in Usa right now on 100 free ??? how is that possible ?
Why he wouldn’t swim the 50 free at Nationals?

He’s the reigning 100 free olympic champion.
I believe too many people forget that fact too often.
Yes, he has a huge margin in USA.
He can qualify at Nationals at only 80% and be fully tapered for Pan Pacs.
It’s a luxury that no many US swimmers have.
People overthink this “skip an event at Nationals” thing because they’re focusing so heavily on Pan Pacs. Don’t forget that this is the selection meet for Worlds too. That’s the equalizer.
BOBO , i didn’t mention he won’t swim the 50 free at Nationals of course . he is capable of putting amazing times on both 50 and 100 free in the same meet . he has done it allready this year . I didn’t intent to doubt him at any point . he is probably the only one right now to get incredible speed on both races . I was disturbed by the fact he didn’t show up for the final ; i imagine he was able to drop from 21.9 to maybe 21.6 .
