Lakeside Swim Club 15-18 Girls Rewriting Kentucky State Record Book at Sectionals

Special to SwimSwam.

Lakeside Swim Club’s rewrite of the Kentucky state 15-18 girls record book continued Thursday and Friday at the Speedo Champions Series ESSZ Senior Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

Sixteen-year-old Asia Seidt set the state record in the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2 minutes, 18.07 seconds. That broke a nine-year-old mark formerly held by Olympian Elaine Breeden.

Later Thursday, 16-year-old Brooke Bauer eclipsed the state record in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 26.13. The previous record was set in 2012 by Kirsten Nitz, now swimming at the University of Kentucky.

Friday, the Lakeside 400 freestyle relay of Seidt, Monica McGrath, Cameron Brown and Bauer crushed the state record by three seconds.

That marked the third 15-18 relay state record set by the LadyHawks this summer. Previously, Lakeside’s quartet of Seidt, Kennedy Lohman, Brooke Forde and Bauer had broken the 200 medley relay record, and the team of Brown, Bauer, Seidt and Monica McGrath set the new standard in the 200 free relay.
