North Carolina senior Stephanie Peacock, the 2012 NCAA Champion and the NCAA Record holder in the 1650 free, has been scratched from that event on the final day of the 2014 Women’s NCAA Championship meet.
This is the event where, at the end of ACC’s, Peacock had to be taken from the pool and carried off-deck on a stretcher, after which she was taken to a hospital for some observation. All reports were that she was feeling better coming into this meet after both that incident, and the still-mysterious illness that kept her from swimming at last year’s NCAA Championship meet.
Earlier in this meet, Peacock finished 13th in the 500 free and 42nd in the 200 free – both of which came in times slower than she was in-season.
The North Carolina women currently sit in 18th place after two days of competition.
