Dreamful is a crowdfunding platform to help athletes raise funds to meet their training and competition needs. German Open Water Swimming standout Alexander Studzinski has joined on to help support this summer’s FINA Grand Prix races in Canada.
Here’s some background on this outstanding swimmer from the Dreamful campaign
Alexander Studzinski got his start like most other kids — his dad took him to a local pool when he was four years old, hoping his son
would learn to swim. But his talent was apparent early on, and a local coach noticed him right away and convinced him to start training seriously. In 2003, his coach asked him to try swimming a 25k in open water — and Alex loathed the race, vowing never to do it again.
A few months later, he decided to give it another try — and wound up qualifying for the world championships. From there, he swam a 36k in Italy, and then went for one of the hardest distances possible — an 88k race in Argentina in 2006. Nine and a half hours later, he came in fourth place, and was hooked. His goal is now to win the 32k and 34k 2014 Grand Prixs this Summer in Canada.
In addition to training, Alex spends his time as a police officer in Germany, helping keep citizens safe in the water. He also loves to
cook and is planning his wedding this August.
