Katie Ledecky continues to be on fire. After setting an American record in the 500 freestyle last night, Ledecky took down another national standard at the D.C. Metro High School Championships in the 200 freestyle.
Her time of 1:42.38 broke Dagny Knutson’s time of 1:42.81 that was set in 2008. Ledecky attends Stone Ridge High School, which is classified as a independent (private) school. Ledecky’s swim will stand as a new independent and national high school record, and Knutson’s time will remain the national record for public schools.
Ledecky’s Splits:
24.21
25.91 – 25.91
1:16.34 – 26.22
1:42.38 – 26.04
Her time tonight was just off her best of 1:42.03 from December’s USA Swimming. Megan Romano remains as the American record holder with a 1:41.21.
We will post a video of the swim shortly.
Not sure what she’s doing now:

That’s a pretty great weekend. Imagine how fast she’d be if she did USRP training. She should stop swimming mindless yards, and get where it’s at.
Do you know what her training is? If not then please stop.
In a New York Minute, can someone please tell me what the USRP training method is? Thanks!
Training exclusively at about 1/4s of the race distance at race pace… no drills no kicking… just racing…
That’s extremely simplified… As you asked for… but if you want a smarter person to tell you more…

Awesome! She can definitely go the AR.
That Katie can surely do! But she’d better hurry up there as I wouldn’t be to surprised if Missy surpasses Megan’s time @ NCAAs next month…
True dat…..
Congratulations to a world class athlete and an even better person.
Ledecky…
SMASH.
