Saint Louis dominates Eastern Illinois to cap off two of best regular seasons in program history

The Billikens of Saint Louis University went on the road to close the regular season, knocking off Eastern Illinois on the men’s and women’s sides to punctuate what’s been an outstanding combined season.

The Billiken men finish the season 14-2, the second-best record in school history in terms of win-percentage. The women wrapped up a 15-4 season, one of the better seasons in their history as well.

Junior Grant Alef won the 1000 free for the second week in a row, chopping another 7 seconds off his season best to go 9:49.76. He also took the 200 back in 1:54.46.

The Saint Louis men also got two wins from sophomore Brendan Hulseman. He went 1:44.27 to win the 200 free and 52.19 for the 100 butterfly win.

The Eastern Illinois men only won one of the 14 events contested – that win came from Conner Conroy in the 200 fly (2:01.11).

On the women’s side, junior Morgan Peterson capped off what was an unbelievable season for her, winning three more races to push her season win total to 37. According to Saint Louis University, Peterson has won all but one of her individual entries this season. Against EIU, she won the 200 fly (2:06.67), 100 fly (57.71) and 200 breast (2:21.15).

The Eastern Illinois women won the 200 medley relay to kick things off, and Olga Livshits, who led that relay off, came back to win the 100 back in 1:00.34.

The final scores were 170-92 in favor of the Saint Louis women and 200-60 for the SLU men.
