The next stop on the informal European circuit, suddenly united by a handful of big-name swimmers making all of the stops, will be the Nice International Meeting that runs from January 31st until February 2nd.

Among the biggest names who will be present include the continuation of the head-to-head battle between Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu and Spain’s Mireia Belmonte. This time, they’ll have some company from France’s Camille Muffat and fellow Spaniard Melania Costa-Schmid, who has risen to Belmonte’s level and has had a great 12 months of swimming as well.
Ruta Meilutyte will swim along with a big group from her Plymouth Leander training group that will be at the meet, though she won’t be heavily challenged in the women’s breaststrokes.
The highlights of the men’s side will include France’s newest star Jeremy Stravius and Ukraine’s young sprint sensation Andrey Govorov. There will also be a handful of Russians internationals at the meet, including Sergey Fesikov and Evgeny Korotyshkin.
British National Record holder Ben Proud headlines a 17-strong British squad at the meet, which makes the men’s sprint fields among the deepest at this meet.
The meet lives up to its name as a true international with swimmers from all across Europe and beyond. In addition to those countries mentioned above, there are also participants from Italy (95 to be precise), Libya, Monaco, Belgium, Switzerland, Israel, and Portugal, as well as every corner of mainland France.
How on earth does Hosszu swim SO MANY EVENTS and YET SO FAST. so frequently, in every each of them, like she doesn’t feel any tiredness or that she has endless source of energy?

The French federation tries to bring back home a world cup meet in 2015 for 3 years.
In a statement, they explain that Fina also wants a world cup meet in France.
But there are still major questions to answer.
There’s a need of a swimming pool.
There’s a need of a TV channel.
And most important, there’s a need of financing. It’s very expensive.
