Add Tyler Clary to the list of swimmers who have called it a meet from Palo Alto. After scratching the 200 IM yesterday, Clary has dropped the 200 back today, which was the last of his events for the meet.
Other than those who we know are done (Clary, Ryan Lochte) there weren’t a whole lot of swimmers to drop events on this final day. The only real drop of note is Justine Mulller, the 5th-seed in the women’s 200 breaststroke. There is likely to be a few more scratches pop up as the morning prelims wear on, but for now things will go pretty-closely to the psych sheets.
Entries:
Sean Mahoney/Mike Alexandrov/Elliott Keefer/Clark Burckle (200 breaststroke)
Micah Lawrence/Keri Hehn/Laura Sogar/Ashley Wanland/Haley Spencer (200 breaststroke)
Dana Vollmer/Amanda Weir/Karlee Bispo/Julia Smit/Liz Pelton/Jessica Hardy/Morgan Scroggy/Kara Lynn Joyce/Allison Schmitt/Felicia Lee/Missy Franklin/Megan Romano/Lia Neal/Jasmine Tosky/Kate Dwelley (100 free)
Nick Thoman/Matt Grevers/Rex Tullius/Cory Chitwood/Eric Ress (200 back)
The race of the morning is bound to be the women’s 100 free. It’s loaded with big-name swimmers who are taking a flier on a final event on this last day of competition, and could include Dana Vollmer and Jessica Hardy (if neither ends up declarin a false start), along with Missy Franklin and Kara Lynn Joyce.
All bets are off in that race. Any swimmer has the potential to take anywhere between 1st and about 20th in that race.
